Probably a silly thing for me to – review my own book, and I guess in reality I am not really going to do that. If I was I would probably point out everything I think is wrong with it – and that would be a depressing post fro everyone. But I am going to share one thing because I simply can’t get it off my mind. It hit me this morning. It came wide and fast like a pelican thinking I was a fish. It hit me in the side of the head and then, like a concussion I came to with one thought on my mind.

The cover reveal for Eyes of Ember was yesterday and along with the cover the bloggers who are participating in the Eyes of Ember blog tour were given a copy of the Eyes of Ember ARC – that stands for Advance Reader Copy. It’s an unedited copy of the book that reviewers get to see, read, and review prior to the book coming out.
And Eyes of Ember is very… very… unedited.
In mid January I sent the manuscript of Eyes of Ember to my editor. I sent emails asking about it and was assured everything was going okay. But after a month I hadn’t heard anything so I called her and was told she hadn’t done anything. Nothing. Now, I could tell something was off. My dear editor, who I love very much, was sick and couldn’t do any edits on Eyes of Ember – so I scrambled and found a new editor and sent it to her a week and a half ago. Yep, you read that right. A week and a half.
Eyes of Ember is still with the editor.
And it releases in seventeen days.
My Grandfather used to say (along with thousands of other grandfathers I am sure) that the things you are meant to do are things that are often the hardest. Meaning, when you are meant to do something everything that can go wrong will.
And that has definitely been the case with Eyes of Ember.
I never intended to write book two. Heck, I never intended to publish book one or for people to like it. But they did and I really wanted to share the whole story, so I wrote it. And it met about a 50 50 with my beta readers. Three LOVED it, and Three counted it as filler. Meh, no biggie, I liked it so I’ll go with it.
But now that the bloggers have it (and have a completely unedited version none the less) I am freaking out. I mean lighting struck when Kiss of Fire did so well, can lightening really strike twice?
If anything, I hope I get some really good constructive feedback – that way I can make Scorched Treachery knock your socks off amazing.
But still I sit and wonder and worry and over think it WAY too much, because I can. Will everyone love it or hate it… I suppose I will find out in 17 days *sigh*
It all started with a birthday present: a little book I wrote for my grandfather, helped along by a little bit of performing experience and a whole lot of love. It has since evolved. Get to know the woman behind the words.
