Let it be no surprise that I am terrible at keeping up a blog, although its no surprise why. I am one busy lady! At least that’s what I’ve been told – and it must be true because I keep putting stuff off – like the blog… and school. But we won’t go into that or even mention that I failed my math test by 3 questions. Yep we will leave all that stuff on the back table….
Oh!
Where were we – oh yeah. I’m too busy and I suck at doing a blog. Just this week I finished the third draft of Eyes of Ember, got that off to a beta reader, worked 8 hours every day, shuttled a little girl back and forth to ballet performances, Did beta reading on one and a half books, and pretended to study for my second attempt at a math test. Oh! And now I have the flu. The flu! grrrr
I’m beginning to realize why so many bloggers have theme days.
So I am going to do theme days. At least until the school year is over and I have three months of blissful non-working time.
So welcome to the first of the theme days
Flashback day!
These could be book flashbacks, personal flashbacks, history flashbacks, or pop culture flashbacks.
I’m kind of excited.
So for the first flashback. We are going to delve a bit into my past – as well as reveal a bit of ‘playlist’ info for Kiss of Fire.
When time came for me to write the final few chapters of Kiss of Fire I knew I needed some really great music to capture the energy of rave turned epic battle – luckily I knew exactly where to turn.
In 1999-2001 era of my life I was performing full time. Meaning up at 7 to the theater by 8 and perform/teach/rehearse/perform until about midnight. Did I mention I didn’t really graduate high school. I didn’t? Well that’s a story for another time.
Anyway durring this time I would stay up late and play zapspot games and listen to some weird musci that I was obsessed with at the time. The Prodigy and Soul Couphing to name a few.
It was a weird time in our history.
(And by our I mean society) Case in point:
So I’m playing zapspot games and chilling to music. twelve years later I am writing characters into a rave turned epic battle and I need music. Obviously I am going to turn to my old friends. The Prodigy.
I mean, can’t you just see Wyn destroying things, and Ryland attacking people through this music?
Now, I should probably add that these guys are WEIRD. They look weird, move weird, and if I had seen the video at the time I probably wouldn’t have loved them so much. But I go off of music, how it makes me feel, the stories that the music makes come alive in my head. And these guys did that.
Actually I have used them more then once –
But that’s a story for another flashback.
And if you need a palate cleanser feel free to enjoy this. (another flash back from the same time period, I told you society was weird then)

It all started with a birthday present: a little book I wrote for my grandfather, helped along by a little bit of performing experience and a whole lot of love. It has since evolved. Get to know the woman behind the words.
