Now, I know you are all wondering about HOW it is getting published, and what happened with the publisher and all that jazz…
Let’s start at the beginning shall we?
2013 was a very strange year for the Imdalind Series. In 2013 I received 3 inquiries for Audio Rights, 2 for film rights and 2 for trade publishing. All of those led to an apex in November at which point my agent, Mark Gottlieb, and I decided that I needed to hold off on publishing Soul of Flame to give me adequate time to explore the new avenues that were open to me. And I did, and I got some AMAZING offers.
But in the end it came down to the fact that I need to support my family. Since my husband was laid off, my income is our only income. And if I sold the rights to the Imdalind series now my families finances would be just a little to tight for comfort.
So, the decision was made to retain the rights… FOR NOW.
If the right offer came along, I would sell in a heartbeat. But for now
Woot!
Now, I know the other big question is this. What about pre-orders.
Well… We WILL have pre-orders for Soul of Flame. However, I will be only able to offer pre-orders through Barnes and Noble, iBooks, and Kobo. I know all you Amazon users are staring at that list with your mouths hanging, and I am sorry I really am. I have done everything in my power to try to get Amazon to offer me a pre-order option – but no go. Hopefully I will be able to offer a pre-order option for Dawn of Ash (and I am still crossing my fingers that I will hear back differently from them) but for now we will make due with what we have and respect their decision.
Now, for all my Barnes and Noble, iBooks, and Kobo readers I am hoping that those pre-order options will go live by January 17th – and when they do I will sing it from the roof tops (and post about it everywhere!).
And Amazon users! Please don’t fret. Even though you don’t get a pre-order option – please don’t despair. I have a little trick up my sleeve just for you. While Barnes and Noble, iBooks, and Kobo will get their books at 12:01 am EST – I am going to hit that pretty publish button on Amazon a little early… and get that book to you perhaps even as early as February 16th … we will have to see…
I have got a few more announcements that I promised you, but I am going to hold off on those for a few more days – just to make sure I have all my ducks in a row.
