The Imdalind Series

Life can turn upside down in a blink of an eyes.

Life can turn upside down in a blink of an eyes.

A kiss can turn into a nightmare.

And sometimes, the evil in this world will find you.

The Imdalind Series explores the wickeds of war, of hate, and the joys of love as it follows three ancients, and the little girl who is swept up into the war they have been fighting for centuries. The Imdalind Series is free of sexual content, has minimal swearing. It does have some intense moments and possible graphic violence. Recommended for ages 15+

The Imdalind Series is Rebecca Ethington’s Debut Series. It rushed into the literary world and smashed its way into best seller lists and took readers into worlds they never knew existed before.

Joclyn Despain has a scar. In fact, it is almost like a brand on her skin. She doesn’t know why it appeared on her neck, but she doesn’t want anyone to see it, including her best friend Ryland, who knows everything else about her. The scar is the reason she hides herself behind baggy clothes, and won’t let the idea of kissing Ryland enter her mind, no matter how much she wants to.

The scar is the reason she is being hunted.

If only she knew that she was.

If only she had known that the cursed stone her estranged father sent for her 16th birthday would trigger a change in her. Now, she is being stalked by a tall blonde man, and is miraculously throwing her high school bully ten feet in the air.

Joclyn attempts to find some answers and the courage to follow her heart. When Ryland finds her scar; but he knows what it means, and who will kill her because of it.

You will love the mix of magic and romance and action. Your heart will swell and break as you read Kiss of Fire. LOVED IT!!!- Globug and Hootie Need a Book

Joclyn is in hiding, hunted by the man she still desperately loves. Ryland is gone, his mind erased; no memory of Joclyn remains, but Joclyn’s heart desperately begs her to hold out hope. Meanwhile the black-eyed monster that possesses him attempts to kill her over and over again.

If it wasn’t for Ilyan, Joclyn would be dead by now.

Ilyan, the man who once stalked her, is now Joclyn’s protector, the only person she has left. He protects Joclyn from the men who seek to end her life, and all the while, she is haunted by dreams where Ryland begs her to break the bond between them.

Ilyan is there. Always there.

Ilyan trains and prepares her, teaching her everything she needs to know in the hope that one day she can avenge Ryland, if not protect herself from him.

And then, there is her father.

The man who has never been there is suddenly responsible for everything. And who he is has made Joclyn into something she never wanted to be:

The Silnỳ.

While Joclyn is trapped in the tormenting hell of Cail’s mind, the battle around her only continues to grow and spread.
Edmund has infiltrated the underground hallways of Prague, guiding the massacre that would end the lives of the last of the great magical race. In her attempts to stop him, Wynifred has been captured and her magic restrained. Chained up in the ancient dungeons of Prague, her fate is left in the hands of her father, who has tried to kill her before.
With Ryland’s screams and Sain’s fragmented sights as her only company, Wyn must rely on something that has been hidden deep inside of her for centuries to help them break free.
Ilyan’s whole life has been building up to one purpose. Protect the Silnỳ. He knows what he must do, and he has no doubt in his ability to do so.
But when his father’s magic removes Joclyn’s mind from her body, he is left protecting the shell of the one person he loves. Desperate to find a way to break her free of her prison, he makes a choice. And that one choice changes everything.
Now, Ilyan finds himself bound to Joclyn in a way that he never knew to be possible.
They say that blood is thicker than water, but Black Water burns, and Ilyan’s heart may not be strong enough to keep it pumping through his veins and give the girl he loves back into his brother’s care.
Even if he can, it may not be safe to do so.

The Time for the final battle has come.

Edmund’s armies have surrounded the Rioseco Abbey, trapping the few survivors inside. The sight that Ilyan was given a thousand years ago is about to come to pass.

If only Joclyn was able to fight.

Joclyn is tormented by the hallucinations that Cail’s mind has left her with, her magic an uncontrollable torrent that even Ilyan cannot control. Her moments of lucidity are broken by fears of dripping pipes and bleeding walls, and a desire to kill Ryland that she is having trouble trying to ignore.

The sight has shown her power, shown her success, but it has also shown her death – The end of her life something she is not quite willing to give up on yet.

Even past her death, the sight has shown her love, and that love may be the only key to her sanity, to her strength, and to Edmund’s death.

That love may stand in her way, and a single choice may tip the scales and secure their future, or destroy their fate.

It was supposed to be the final battle, the one to end Edmund’s line, his life, and free the magic Edmund had taken from the world. That was how it was foreseen. The end of the battle that has raged for centuries, unbeknownst to the mortals around them, the battle that would end with Joclyn’s death.

But it did neither.

The battle still reigns, Joclyn still lives, and the sight that was given eight hundred years ago is broken.

And it’s not the only one.

Sights that were once thought infallible have become nothing more than scattered glass, with broken pieces shattering into incorrect visages. Sain clings to the magic that he knows to be true, but there is something else, something that he is not saying. And what he does say is no longer adding up.

Something is wrong.

Ilyan and his people move through the caves, following a sight they hope to be correct, fleeing a battle that should have been the end while the battle within each of them grows with each step.

Ryland fights the monsters his father has infected him with.
Wynifred fights the confusion of who she is.
Dramin fights to live.

Prague may not survive this battle, it may be ripped to shreds… or burned to ashes.

Underneath the deep red barrier Edmund has placed over the city, Prague is in ruins…

Vilỳ hide in the darkened alleys, waiting to attack anyone who passes, while Edmund’s men roam the blood-soaked streets, scouring every crumbling building in a mad attempt to flush out Ilyan and his men.

Among the danger, Ilyan and Joclyn are trapped, unable to leave the city. trying to keep their people safe behind a powerful shield, unseen from Edmund and his scouts.

Wyn spends her days haunted by her daughter and watching Thom waste away from the mysterious curse slowly taking him.

Ryland has risen above his father’s control, ready to take his place as his brother’s second. However, Sain needs his help first for a simple assignment, or so he thinks.

Their safety is about to be shattered.

A mole behind those safe, Cathedral walls has begun whispering through the survivors that Joclyn is unstable, that her magic is an uncontainable force that will destroy them all in the end.

Determined not to let the rumors affect her, Joclyn battles ahead, only to have reality and sight intersect in an explosion that shatters the walls between future, past, and present, leaving her imprisoned in a seamless existence she must learn to control … before Edmund and Ovailia control her.

Before Sain unfurls the plan he has been orchestrating for centuries.

For centuries the war that has raged within magic has ripped the world apart. Fought between Skȓítek and Trpaslík; killing father and son, and destroying a fragile balance between mortal and magic.

For centuries everyone has been awaiting the Silnỳ, searching for the girl who was prophesized. The girl with power strong enough to defeat the evil that plagued the world, and bring the war to an end.

For centuries, everyone was wrong.

The Silnỳ was not what they had been told, the promises of future distorted by a sight that was tarnished.

The evil was not what they had expected, not what they had been fighting against. Instead it was hidden amongst them; plotting, waiting for their time to strike.

And it did. With fire and blade the hidden evil took it’s place upon a throne of blood. The evil has shown itself and now only one person can save them all.

But with Sights that are no longer infallible and armies that are abandoning their king – it is no longer clear who that person is, or even if they have the courage to stand up to the evil and face their end.

I’m a high school English teacher and mother of a 4 daughters, oldest is 12, and I’m always looking for good YA books. I’m loving this Imdalind series! I can’t wait for the next one, and I’ll be pushing the series on my students and daughter (just oldest for now. Thanks for actually making me tear up in the sight scene with Jos and Ilyan in Eyes of Ember. My husband laughed at me, and I got in trouble for neglecting the family because I couldn’t put the book down. Nicely done!

  8. Noal September 10, 2013 8:08

Holy crap, this is a fantastic series. I have to admit I was going through all of my fun, brainless summer reading and was having a hard time remembering what I even read two days previous. THESE books, on the other hand, have me firing on all fours. I just can’t seem to devour them quick enough. Sorry to say my husband has had to get along without me these last few days as I’m so entrenched in the story. Such a delight to read! Thank you so much for digging me out of the summer book blues. LOVE them and am truly looking forward to the next one (although, my husband may feel differently… ha!)

    • Rebecca Ethington September 17, 2013 3:53

Thank you so much Noal! I am so glad you loved them. You better stock up on Eggo waffles – Soul of Flame is going to be a doozy 🙂

  9. Donna Lyne September 12, 2013 2:45

I am reading Wyn #3 and just read that you will probably have five in all. WooHoo!! Love these book, what an imagination you have and what a talent to write. There are a lot of books out there, but have to tell you that your writing is excellent. It has a plot(s), great characters and character development, twists and turns, and keeps me on the edge of my seat. What a talent! Wow! It you want to write six or seven more that would be okay with me. Thanks for sharing your talent – you stand out in the crowd. Donna Lyne

I recently downloaded kiss of fire from Amazon when it was free. I had never read any of your books or even heard of you when I downloaded it. Since I began reading, I have not been able to put it down. I quickly finished Kiss of Fire and Eyes of Ember. I am now into Scorched Treachery and all within the last 48 hours. I am so bummed (but happy to see there will be 2 more books in the series) but I have no idea how I will be able to wait for the next release in December! What a great and unique story line! Hoping to see it on film someday 🙂

    • Rebecca Ethington September 17, 2013 3:51

Thank you so much Tiffany!! I am glad you enjoyed it! And don’t worry – only 86 days until Soul of Flame!!

I have just finished scorched treachery and I can’t possibly wait until December for the next instalment! I need to know how Ryland is going to react and I want to hear more about Jos and Ilyan’s love, I am also so worried about Dramin, please say he recovers. Can I please be your proof reader!

  12. Tyma November 24, 2013 7:11

Heyy! I’m sorry I’m a little behind on the whole series but I just finished eyes if ember and loved it but I was anxious to know about the next book I kinda cheated and went through comments of those who had already read it,,, and from what I can see ryland and joclyn don’t seem to be together and that breaks my heart because as much as I like Ilyan I really want joclyn and ryland to be happy together and maybe Ilyan can find happiness through his family?? I don’t know, I haven’t read it hyper but pls can I get some reassurance that I will not be disappointed in the couples at the end of the series?
Thank you so much and I love your work! By far my favorite author!

  13. Mary Sturino November 30, 2013 5:54

Really looking forward to the next book… Hope all is well with you on your new venture…. Can you give a hint on the book that the new publisher wants you to write that is delaying Through the Glass as a book instead of Novellas? Really excited for you and yours.

Loved the series! Such a great story. I know I’ll have the after series let down and won’t want to start another book because I’m still caught up in this story… It’s a love hate kind of thing! Love the series, hate that it has to end. Love the story but hate trying to find something else that will entertain me the way the imdalind series has! Thanks for having a free book to start off! Totally worth paying for the rest of the series!

    • Rebecca Ethington September 20, 2015 2:51

Awe, thanks so much! I’ve been with these characters a long time, so I might have withdrawals when I’m done, too! lol Or a relief that they’re out of my head.. 🙂 I will be posting a release date for the next book hopefully soon!!! It will be when I have completed Dawn of Ash!! So check back in soon! 🙂

  21. lynda spencer February 3, 2016 4:39

In book two you used the word mold to mean mould throughout. Really made it difficult to stay in the story with that frequent and glaring error. Also used molding ibstead if moulding. Might want to do a global replacement.

    • Rebecca Ethington February 12, 2016 1:35

Sounds like you prefer the British spelling. The spelling that is in the book is actually correct for the region it was published in. I hope you continue with the series and thanks for the note!

  22. lynda February 3, 2016 4:46

The word “mold” was used incorre tly and frequently throughout the second book instead of “mould”, as was “molding” instead of “moulding”. This made it very difficult ti stay in the story. You may want to do a global replace and reissue the electronic version.

    • Rebecca Ethington February 12, 2016 1:34
